With all of it’s differing art scenes, there’s one thing Brooklynites can agree on: eating is consistently fun. The first annual Brooklyn Taste Talks set out to appeal to the ever evolving Brooklyn foodie palate while paying homage to a range of topics covering our most basic (and possibly favorite) human need. Over the course of the two day event, there were multiple seminars at the Wythe Hotel, a pancake and fried chicken breakfast at Brooklyn Bowl, lectures and Kinfolk Studios, including guest lectures and appearances by Mario Batali, Wylie Dufresne, Dan Barber, Questlove, Alessandro Porcelli, DFA recording artist Sinkane and more. Much a nod to the international consortium of future progress and intellectual discourse “TED Talks”, Taste Talks culminated in a massive BBQ this Sunday aptly titled the All Star Cookout where foodies from all over the country ate standing adjacent to Brooklyn Smorgasbord in East River State Park. While the weekend’s festivities were curated by New York standout chef April Bloomfield (The Breslin, The Spotted Pig), countless chefs, celebrities, oenologists and restaurateurs including April herself came together to present their finest culinary offerings during a delightful sun-filled pre-autumn day.
