Big Shot Guest Mix: Kohib

12642713_1044250322280960_5458280282506383689_nfrom Big Shot Magazine:

“Norwegian DJ/producer Kohib brings the heat on Big Shot Guest Mix 313. Having just released “Time For Cake” earlier in the month on SpinSpinNYC, he flaunts his mixing prowess on a session comprised of heavenly house tracks produced by his fellow countrymen. Trust us when we say it’s as tasty (and addictive) as Norwegian smoked salmon.

Inspired by Balearic disco to deep house and techno, Kohib, who has upcoming releases on various labels (“first some Afrobeat with Sveinbjörn from Iceland, then some techno with Kahuun from Bergen.”), took pride in representing Norway on his mix. “I wanted to put together a fruit basket of Norwegian tracks that might inspire you guys. When I see the tracklist, I happen to see that I’ve included some of my own remixes, and the new track on SpinSpinNYC; it just happened! The first track, ‘Song for Annie,’ is one of the reasons why I listen to a certain kinda music. Erot is not among us anymore, but his music will be here forever! Hope you enjoy this variety of Norwegian dogs!”

Listen: Big Shot Guest Mix: Alan Nieves

Alan_Nieves_2

“The evolution of tech-house in the late ’90s presented a new wrinkle for the tattered fabric known as dance music. Blending the sheen of Detroit techno with the soul of Chicago house, the glistening sound was embraced by a wealth of talented artists hailing from all over the world — Swayzak, Terry Lee Brown, Jr. and Jesper Dahlbäck, to name a few — who laid roots on a style which continues to evolve and innovate.

Working in a genre that’s all about evolution, NYC tech-house DJ/producer Alan Nieves has been doing his share to keep his sound deep, funky and taut. Over the span of top releases for Bedroom Muzik, Adverso, Patent Skillz, Subinstinct and Kombo, he’s used new technological twists to ensure his music offers maximum dance floor enjoyment…” via Big Shot Magazine: http://newsflash.bigshotmag.com/dj-mixes/34665/
