OCTOBER 19 2011 BROOKLYN SHAKEDOWN: DJ EVERYDAY (PEX / PLAYLOOP)

EVERYDAY (PEX, Playloop)

For some people, music is not a hobby but a way of life – something that fills and inspires each day and every breath. DJ Everyday lives this reality with every beat he drops, whether he is producing tech-laden grooves, performing at major international music festivals, helping to run Playloop Records or throwing the infamous PEX parties.

Not many performers can claim to have opened for Deadmau5 and played sunrise on the Playa at Burning Man, but DJ Everyday straddles these two worlds with ease and a smile, uniting the electronic music community beyond appearances or geography. Consistently on-point with fun and refined sets of progressive, tech house and techno, DJ Everyday is an integral force in the electronic arts scene.

Known for his keen ability to read the crowd and connect on an emotional and spiritual level, DJ Everyday’s down-to-earth vibe and laid-back attitude belie the fact that he has played hundreds and hundreds of clubs, festivals, parties and concerts, including an opening spot in San Francisco with the legendary Orbital on their 2010 tour. A drummer by trade, DJ Everyday has been producing and performing for over a decade. His powerful style and positive vibe have made him a favorite on dance floors across the nation and around the world.

In addition to his heavy touring schedule, also watch for Everyday’s new music releases. Fresh and fun, DJ Everyday’s beats need no special occasion to make you move…just put on the record and dance- every day.

OCTOBER 12 2011 BROOKLYN SHAKEDOWN: JASON HODGES

JASON HODGES

Sampled, Candy Talk, Lingo, APT Entertainment | Toronto, Canada

Canadian born Jason Hurtubise arrived in the house music scene in late 1991. Taking on Toronto’s underground party scene, he developed his dj skills influenced by New York/New Jersey sounds. Todd Terry, Kenny Dope & Lil Louie Vega (Maw), Zack Tomz, and Todd Edwards are a few of Hodges’ favorite producers.

Drawn to the sounds of drum machines, Hodges began renting gear from local music stores until finally deciding on a E-MU SP 1200, a piece commonly used by Hip Hop producers since it’s arrival in 1987.

Hard-hitting beats with deep grooves became the signature sound for Hodges – whether in the studio, on the dance floors; from local Toronto gigs, to the surrounding towns around Ontario and across Canada, Hodges was growing and coming into his own.

Jason began releasing records with various Toronto labels getting his feet wet remixing and co-producing tracks with some of Canada’s talents. After many years of training and development, Hodges returned to the scene with a new energy and a new plan.

As a part of the All World Entertainment (now Apt Entertainment) team of house DJ’s and producers, Hodges teamed up with DJ Sneak on co-productions and remix work for several notable and established artists. Hodges & Sneak (AKA ‘The Jizznackaz”) have collaborated on a number of Sneak’s projects and records for Magnetic Recordings, as well as Sneak’s imprint label Oomph Recordings.

2003 opened the floodgates for world travel and new music projects. Jason continued to build his profile; remixing artists like Freaks on MMF, Kaskade on OM, Sneak’s “Fix my Sink” on Magnetic, Cozy Creatures Oomph, Bosh, an EP for Swirl People on Aroma Records (Belgium), EP for Oomph Records (USA), EP for OAE Records (USA), Amenti Music, with many of his productions featured on several House of OM CD Series’ (Carter & Farina LIVE, DJ Sneak, Fred Everything) as well as Mark Farina AND Derrick Carter’s ‘Sessions’ for Ministry of Sound UK, respectively – all promising a steady and bright future for Canada’s best-kept secret.

These last 2 and a half years have sent Jason across the globe, from Brazil to Belgium to Bulgaria, all the UK majors and exclusive Ministry of Sound events, Istanbul, Turkey, the Netherlands and over to Asia and Australia with the beautiful South Africa on the horizon.

For those who know, the name Jason Hodges represents the technical craft he pours into every production, with highly anticipated tracks being played and praised by the likes of Mark Farina, DJ Heather, Derrick Carter, DJ Raoul, and other eminent House Music Pioneers around the world.

DJ Sneak on Hodges: “He’s the Kenny Dope of Toronto”. He has productively advanced into a solid house music trooper…”
