AUGUST 3 2011 BROOKLYN SHAKEDOWN ::JEREMY JOSHUA & REVEREND P::

JEREMY JOSHUA
(Sampled / Guesthouse / Greenhouse)

REVEREND P
(Djoon / Animal House Paris / Vega Records)

Two excellent selectors for this upcoming Wednesday night: Australia’s Jeremy Joshua & from Paris France, the Reverend P.

Reverend P will ease us into the night. As the creator of the famous monthly Motown House parties at Djoon nightclub in Paris, Reverend P brings a blend of funky, real-soul infused rhythms to the dancefloor and a level of grit and grace appreciated by partygoers the world round. He’s rocked NYC before (with invites from Timmy Regisford and Louie Vega to rock Shelter and Cielo, respectively) and he’s been rocking parties abroad with the likes of Danny Krivit, Dimitri from Paris, Joey Negro, and Norman Jay. Reverend P’s Motown House parties are now celebrating their 10th year, and he’s excited to bring a piece of the Paris underground to you.

Jeremy Joshua is crushin the new jack sound, he’s actually one of producers forging it and expanding the scene by delivering inventive new music to djs and dancers around the globe. With true support from the likes of Mark Farina, Derrick Carter, Ninja Tunes, EMI Sampled, Guesthouse, Juiced, and Honey Dijon’s Digital Disco in the UK and America, his deep but hard hitting and flavorful style is one that easily frenzies a dancefloor. Australia’s baddest underground parties are fortunate enough to experience Jeremy’s style on the regular and now he’s bringin it to the Brooklyn Shakedown.

See you at the party.

BROOKLYN SHAKEDOWN AUGUST 2011 CALENDAR

AUGUST 3rd: JEREMY JOSHUA & REVEREND P.

Jeremy Joshua’s got the jackin house bit in the bag. He’s been crushing the scene through all the hottest labels, most recently: Sampled Music, Juiced, Guesthouse, and Greenhouse Records. Naturally, his remixes and original productions are being supported by the busiest djs. And now, Jeremy’s spinning the baddest parties with today’s hottest talent. What else needs to be said? Oh yeah, he’s spinning alongside Paris nightclub phenom Reverend P & NYC’s Nutritious on August 3rd at the Brooklyn Shakedown.

Reverend P’s been rolling with the legends… Timmy Regisford, Louie Vega, Norman Jay, Joey Negro, Danny Krivit… impressive, and it’s mostly because he’s a bad-ass dj with a badass record label throwing one of the most badass monthly events in Paris France. His Animal House label lifts the world famous Djoon nightclub off its heels monthly Saturdays for the renown Motown House party, where Reverend’s signature funk/soul inspired sound has been shaking the floor for 10 years straight. August 3rd, Brooklyn Shakedown, Reverend P’s bringin the Motown Party to you.

AUGUST 10th: NUTRITIOUS (Apt Entertainment, SpinSpinNYC)

Brooklyn Shakedown resident, Nutritious – Special 6 hour set.

AUGUST 17th: JOHN DILL (Robot Heart / Found Love, NYC)

New York City all the way for Mr. Dill; he’s a deep village house cat with a penchant for all things bounce. That’s our best way of describing his signature deep bubbly sounds … John’s got a way of moving you through the dancefloor without you even realizing you’re there. Imagine being lifted away, balloon-like… scenic, mesmerizing – entrancing – it’s the reason why he’s most recently playing alongside Master Kev, Satoshi Tomiie, and the Dirtybird crew (Claude VanStroke, Justin Martin, Christian Martin). We can’t wait for John to bless up the Brooklyn Shakedown. Think: Burning Man meets Trash Can wrapped up in a vintage leather bow.

AUGUST 24th: PETE MOSS (Recline Records, Alola, Apt)

This could be a fun night, getting down while fellow apt-mates Pete Moss and Nutritious go toe-to-toe on the ones and twos. Pete’s resume reads like a guidebook to being one of the most well-respected figures in deep house. Guess that’s why he is. Pete teaches teachers how to develop deep driving house music and his sets on the dj decks are so proper, you’ll instantly realize why he’s admired by so many people all over the world. Pete’s logged more trips around the globe than he can count; from Ministry of Sound UK, Pacha Ibiza, to NYC Cielo and Centro-Fly, Pete somehow finds time to continue a time honored production legacy with his in-demand dj schedule. Over the years, he’s gilded records for Worship, Ovum, Greenskeepers, Nordic Trax, Large, Sound Between Movement, Plastic City, Dutchie, So Sound, and many other great purveyors of house. It is with profound respect that we present a special evening with Pete Moss at the Brooklyn Shakedown.

AUGUST 31st: FORQUARTERS COLLECTIVE (The Gumball, ESL, Red Maple, Baltimore)

As you scan the East Coast of the USA, certain collectives pop off the map like diamonds in the rough. Enter ForQuarters Collective, djs Jason Joseph and Jon Mack. ForQuarters are host to some of Baltimore’s greatest monthly events and, combined with their travel, includes flings with Fred Everything, Rich Medina, Dimitri Max, Wally Callerio, Jeff Craven, Uriah West, Davidson Ospina, N’Dinga Gaba, parties with Farina, Heather, Chuck Love, Jojo Flores, and many, many more. ForQuarters hold down the main room every second Saturday at the world famous Eighteenth Street Lounge (ESL) in Washington D.C., which may sound familiar to you if you’re a fan of Thievery Corporation and their eclectic record label of the same name (they run both). This doesn’t happen by chance, this is the result of being incredibly talented and running mad game on the dancefloor …and that’s just what the ForQuarters do.

Join us for Wednesdays in August as we bring you these very special guests each and every week …all night long!
